Primeiro, vamos começar revendo o nome dos meses em inglês, afinal, essa é uma parte muito importante em se tratando de datas, certo?

Atenção: os nomes dos meses devem ser sempre grafados com a primeira letra maiúscula, ao contrário do que acontece na língua portuguesa. |

Os anos em inglês
Ao invés de lermos os números completos, como fazemos em português, para falar o ano em inglês geralmente dividimos a leitura em duas partes. Veja os exemplos a seguir:

Em português: mil novecentos e oitenta e cinco
Em inglês: nineteen eighty-five (19-85)
1999
Em português: mil novecentos e noventa e nove
Em inglês: nineteen ninety-nine (19-99)
2023
Em português: dois mil e vinte e três
Em inglês: twenty twenty-three (20-23)
Contudo, há exceções quando a segunda parte do ano começa com zero. Confira:

No inglês britânico, a ordem das datas é semelhante à ordem usada em português, ou seja, dia-mês-ano.

Como se escreve por extenso: 18th December, 2009.
Como se fala: the eighteenth of December, two thousand and nine.
